Nothing says pregnant craving like Grasshopper cookies. I love these cookies with all my heart and soul, and don’t know why they aren’t included as their own food group on the pyramid yet. Luscious, melt-y chocolate over crispy, crunchy mint makes the very best dessert ever known to man.
I have been known (am I really admitting this on national Internet?) to devour half a package in one sitting. Of course, I suffered the consequences with a most terrible bellyache, but they are just so delicious and irresistible! If you put me up to a blind taste test between Grasshoppers and Girl Scout Thin Mints, Grasshoppers would win hands-down. There is simply no contest. Which is great, because Grasshoppers are a lot easier to find and cost a whole lot less too.At four cookies per serving, Grasshoppers have 140 calories, 7 grams of fat (4.5 grams of which are unsaturated fats), 75 milligrams of sodium, 19 grams of carbs and 11 grams of sugar. Though not the healthiest by any means, they aren’t exactly terrible either, for an occasional treat. The hardest part is convincing oneself that they are for occasional treats, and not considered a necessary part of a balanced diet!
If you are a fan of mint, or a fan of fudge, or even just a fan of sugar, you owe it to yourself to give Grasshopper cookies a try. They are a great standby for when you need a sweet treat, not to mention they leave you with minty fresh breath!
