With Thanksgiving just a few days away, most of you have probably already planned out what you will be making for dinner and dessert. For those of you still on the fence about what to bring to your family gathering, here are some of the top Thanksgiving pies served across the country.
Pumpkin Pie
Oh, the classic pumpkin pie. My mouth waters just thinking about it. My mom had a recipe called Impossible Pumpkin Pie that required no crust. One of these years I want to dig that up and make one again. Topped with whipped cream, not much is better than a classic pumpkin pie.
Apple Pie
This all-time classic is one of the most requested pies and is about as American as baseball and hot dogs. My personal favorite is Dutch Apple pie, however, which is just the same as regular apple pie but with a crumbly, brown-sugary topping.
Chocolate French Silk Pie
For chocolate fans out there, nothing beats chocolate French silk pie. Creamy, silky chocolate surrounded by flaky crust and a whipped cream topping is the ultimate in decadence.
Mincemeat Pie
Personally, I have never understood the attraction, but this is my Dad’s favorite and one our family had every year. For those of you who like the stuff, please enlighten me… why?
Pumpkin Cheesecake
I will do just about anything for a pumpkin cheesecake. My aunt makes the best one ever, and I could probably live my whole life eating nothing but pumpkin cheesecake. I would die happy. Young, but happy.
If none of these are inspiring you for this year’s holiday feast, you can always do what we are doing and bring a fruit salad instead.
